Kyoto is a remarkable town with an incredible food culture. It is an area of such farming pride and a region of such diversity, situated so beautifully within seasonal landscapes that it affords an incredible wealth of growing practices and farming traditions. This is one of the reasons NOMA located their final restaurant there. The ingredients are some of the best in the world and the pride taken in bringing them to the plate is like nothing I have experienced before.
I only had a few days in Kyoto and while I spent some of that time attempting to manoeuvre my way into a seat at NOMA I spent the rest of the time eating and walking and cycling. I should have allocated more time.
Below is a list of places I am desperate to return to, alongside a list of places I wish I had booked in advance that I missed out on. Mark them if you travelling there. It is a brilliant city with so much to offer and I barely scratched the surface. I wish I had had more time. I will return and I will return with great gusto.
